Must Attend Events; 2018 in the Mediterranean

Winter seems to have been clinging to our usual European ports of call, but finally – the sun is starting to shine. Every summer the well-heeled superyacht crowd leaves behind the rum shacks of the Caribbean in favor of the playground shores of Europe. From the star-studded events of Cannes and Monaco to the pretty streets of Palma, we have collected a sampling of the best five-star events to work into your yachting lifestyle calendar this summer…

Sultry Spain

The first stop on the luxury event calendar for spring and summer sends us to the Palma Boat Show. From the 27th April until the 1st May, a vibrant social calendar will mesh with some of the major players in the yachting industry for a celebration of all things sophisticated sailing.

If you prefer your beautiful vessels on the road as opposed to the ocean, then The Supercar Run will fire up the heat on the 10th June. Classical and modern road toys take to the Tour Alpina for a dazzling display of tight turns and open road prowess.

OneoCean Barcelona

Formula one will also be firing up in beautiful Barcelona on the 11th-15th May.

French Fancies

From Chanel to Cannes; France is no stranger when it comes to the art of living well. 2018 sees a full and fabulous lineup of unmissable events. Roll out the red carpet – kickstarting Le Joie de Vivre season is the glorious Cannes Film Festival. Starting on the 8th May and lasting until the 19th, this period sees Hollywood’s A list stars flock to the feisty French Riviera for a full-on program of screenings, ceremonies, and champagne laced parties. In the run up to the diamond laced event we will be searching out the best cocktail and dining spots, along with insider knowledge on where to stay and play.

French finesse doesn’t end with the silver screen. The luxury calendar continues down on the South of France with the Monaco Grand Prix. From the 24th-27th May, the gold dusted streets of the Kingdom of Monaco will purr to life with superyachts lining the harbor, world class race drivers on every corner, and the roar of Ferrari engines hugging the tracks. We will be on the ground delivering the inside scoop on all the action, both on and off the track.

Jumping International Monte Carlo will also take place from the 28th-30th June, with the finest international riders and thoroughbred horses traveling from near and far to deliver a sublime experience for equestrian enthusiasts.

As summer starts to sizzle down, the events continue to hot up especially with the famous Cannes Yachting Festival. On the 11th September over 600 beautiful boats will be lining the Vieux Port and the streets will swarm with brokers, charter companies, luxury toy and tender dealers, and anyone who is anyone in the elite world of yachting. Later, between the 26th – 29th September the Monaco Yacht Show will unravel its masts to dazzle as it does every year.

Italian Elegance

On the 19th May, the World Superyacht Awards will also come to Florence. There is no better city to celebrate the artistic vision of yacht building than beneath the renaissance rarities of Italy’s most beautiful architecture.

If you didn’t get your fine fill of film in Cannes, then fear not. The Venice Film Festival will bloom from the 29th August – 8th September. You can expect stunning shows, mesmerizing masked balls, and world class parties and al fresco suppers along the shimmering canals. Guillermo Del Toro has been named President of the Jury and the stars are sure to flock.

When you want to catch a break from the hedonistic and dizzying array of events, the siren call of the Greek Isles, the majesty of Montenegro, and the eternal springs of Madeira and the rest of the Amalfi Coastline are just a short sail away.

Europe, we are glad to have you back for a sublime yachting lifestyle 2018.
