Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo celebrated its 60th anniversary in style earlier this month with the launch of the first unit of their new 500Exp at the shipyard’s facility in La Spezia. Christened Ocean Dreamwalker III, the 47 metre explorer yacht’s launch was accompanied by a traditional Buddhist ceremony in honor of her new Chinese owner as well as the customary bottle of Champagne broken across her bow.
With her sleek good looks and impressive performance capabilities the new 500Exp is ideally suited to independent exploration of exotic and isolated destinations. With the talented Francesco Paszkowski responsible for her exterior styling, her modern design builds on Sanlorenzo’s first expedition yacht model, the popular 460Exp, which already has four units on the water. This new model adds more space on the stern to accommodate the client’s request for a helicopter landing pad and also offers a larger beach club platform at sea level. Another standout feature will be the yacht’s vast selection of water toys and a garage which can accommodate tenders of up to 9 meters/23 feet in length.
Although Sanlorenzo is yet to release details on the 500Exp’s performance capabilities and interior layout, this new model will be able to receive up to 10 overnight guests in five comfortable cabins. She also features Sanlorenzo’s cutting-edge E-motion technology with pioneering power management software to get the most out of her diesel electric propulsion system. These innovative features ensure the 500Exp is both quieter when underway and able to access destinations with tight environmental regulations thanks to her Zero Emissions Mode (ZEM).
