Moonen Yachts’ semi-custom, 30-meter Bijou, the latest design in the Caribbean Matica Series, has met the water for sea trials displaying an elegant grey hull with black striping, topped by a smooth, white superstructure. Stylish curves in glazing and hull, and a finely recessed hull design prompted owners to express approval above and beyond expectation. Delivery to the owners is scheduled for late June.
Rene van der Velden’s design, paired with Adam Lay Studio’s interiors, effortlessly present a fashionable environment that is at once practical and beautiful. Extraordinary views from the raised pilothouse, the flybridge second steering position, and the forward, main deck VIP stateroom drew hearty owner approval. The full beam owner’s stateroom and two guest suites on the lower deck echo the elegant comfort of the main deck.
A large transom to stern opens into a generous swim platform with fixed starboard stair to the main deck. A steep bow with a longer, narrower waterline entrance contributes to comfort underway and reduced fuel use. Protected propellers and shallower draft make Bijou perfect for exploring the Caribbean’s shallower waters. Project manager Nicky van Zon concluded, “It has been a wonderful experience to work so closely with the owners on this project,” emphasizing the pleasant relationship of trust and respect between the yard and the owners.
