It hardly seems fair that such an inordinate amount of beauty, history, and culture could be contained in such a small stretch of coastline. The Côte d’Azur, although compact in distance, can appear the center of the universe by many standards, with a seemingly unlimited number of points to explore and enjoy.
Rimming the Mediterranean along the southern edge of France, and surrounding the sovereign state of Monaco, this lush, historic, culturally-rich region boasts an abundance of almost everything one wants while enjoying a private luxury yacht charter. A week simply nibbles at the treats in store with this luxurious itinerary, giving an incredibly tempting visual amuse bouche of destinations. For instance:
Day 1: Arrive in Monaco via an 8-minute helicopter flight from Nice airport, stepping aboard your private luxury yacht charter at Port d’Hercule. Dress for dinner and a night at Monte Carlo’s famous gaming tables, then celebrate your good fortune with a circuitous route of equally famous nightspots, including the Bhudda Bar and Jimmy’z.
Day 2: Cruise to Antibes-Juan-de-les-Pins and Cap d’Antibes, docking at Port Vauban to visit Chateau Grimaldi, where Musee Picasso houses an exceptional collection of the artist’s famous work. Lunch at the Eden-Roc, which will set the bar high for any other gastronomic experiences. On to Cannes, for an afternoon spent mingling with les Cannois along the Boulevard la Croisette, with a stop or two to pick up a delightful selection of hand-sewn lingerie or finely tailored silks. Decidedly reserved and elegant, dine at L’Oasis for a repast long remembered.
Day 3: Cruising to L’Iles des Lérins, unwrap dramatic history as you explore Roman ruins and remains of an ancient Arabian ship from the Tenth Century. Rounding the nearby island of Sainte Marguerite, appreciate the sumptuous pines and evergreens as you imagine the Man in the Iron Mask, Alexandre Dumas, held captive here.
Day 4: St. Tropez beckons, with glittering Pampelonne Beach, Club 55, and scrumptious boutique fashion around every corner of the narrow, winding streets. As evening approaches, consider joining in the throngs of revelers at some of the glamorous clubs and beach parties, celebrating until the wee hours before dawn.
Day 5: Brush off the glitter of St. Tropez for a healthy, natural glow as you explore the unspoiled island of Porquerolles. Views from its rocky cliffs are the reward for hikes through trails lined with ancient, twisted parasol pines. Consider reserving a spot at L’Olivier at Les Mas du Langoustier, or dine on board, toasting with some domaine de Porquerolles in the glass.
Day 6: Villefranche-Sur-Mer’s pastel port, tucked into a lovely curved bay, introduces the medieval enclave of narrow streets, squares, and stairs. For an devilishly devine meal, secure a spot at Restaurant des Rois in the Reserve de Beaulieu.
Day 7: Rounding the peninsula, St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat offers views of charming villages with deceptively quiet demeanor, only to bring on one of the Côte d’Azur’s most exciting evenings at the Anjuna Beach Club.
Day 8: Return to Monaco for the final splurge, shopping the chic boutiques and designer wares, with baubles galore. Toast a successful voyage at Hotel de Paris Le Bar Américain, as you vow to return for more, same time next year.
