Where to Stay

Those who aren’t sleeping aboard a superyacht but are looking for lavish accommodation on dry land –  Miami has an endless array of five-star hotels. Starting with the Mandarin Oriental, visitors can lap up those waterside views in Brickell Key. When you aren’t admiring yachts, you have a fabulous infinity pool and day spa for pampering, high-style dining on the bay, and bright sun-kissed suites in-keeping with Miami’s sultry weather.

From one big brand to another, the Four Seasons weaves together Miami sass with European style. Art deco touches roll throughout the Biscayne Bay hotel, and the Palm Grove wading pool is a wonderful touch for those hot and humid days. Dining at the Edge and Steak Bar brings another welcome sense of decadence to your stay.

The Fisher Island Club boasts a private club feel with its collection of historic cottages and courtyard villas. Warm fabrics, private Jacuzzis, and a golden era 1920’s feel invites you to ruminate in your private walled garden with a cool cocktail in hand. The beach club and pool wrap around the Vanderbilt Mansion and the sugar white sand beneath your feet is imported from the Bahamas. East Miami is the hip hangout hotel for those seeking a bright and vivacious experience. The East Suite is sublime for those bay views, and guests can luxuriate in five-star touches like rainfall showers, use of a 20,000 ft pool and deck, and dining on Uruguayan cuisine at the inhouse restaurant.

Finally, we come to The Ritz, a chain that needs little introduction. Miami is no exception for the brand to offer a stunning place to stay. The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne is an island oasis with five-global inspired dining destinations, a signature golf course, breezy and elegant Atlantic view rooms, and no less  than 21 treatment rooms at the spa.

Where to Dine

Miami hasn’t always been a highly-revered foodie capital; often swapping its status for gourmet dining in favor of incredible Cuban Libre’s at the hottest bars. Yet the fusion of Cuban meets the south style cooking is starting to carve its own reputation in the sugar soft sands. For fabulous French cuisine that would be right at home on the Riviera head to Palme d’Or in the beautiful Biltmore Hotel. Gregory Pugin trained under the beady eye of the brilliant Joel Robuchon, and is the proud owner of a Michelin star. His cooking is refined without the fuss; think Alaskan crab with watermelon radish, avocado, and lime, knuckles of lobster in a dense vanilla cream, and tender scallops adorned with frothy chestnut bacon foam.

Joe’s Stone Crab is a Miami institution and since 1913 it has been welcoming presidents and movie stars to sit at their tables. The atmosphere is always fresh and lively, and while there may not be swaths of white linen and sparkling chandeliers; the wine always flows and the King Crab Claws and Wild Oysters are as fresh as they come. Perfect for a laid-back lunch rubbing shoulders with the A list crowd.

Azul is one of those award-winning restaurants that boasts floor to ceiling windows and stunning views of the bay come dusk. The menu is a mesmerizing blend of Mediterranean flavors and Asian influence. Class vintage wines are dusted off and watching the lights glitter across the skyline makes for a magical evening worthy of your best pearls.

If you don’t happen to pass the red velvet rope over at Liv, then you can sip Cristal Champagne in Story. This is another of Miami’s hip and happening spots that marks South Beach as one of the hottest places to be after dark. VIP tables are in high demand at Story, and every night the club transforms into an extravagant circus style soiree – all sparkly lights, cosmic colors, and a vibe that cannot be matched anywhere else.
