Your Guide to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2019

The balmy Florida climate, stunning beachfront, and the world’s largest in-water yacht show make the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show one of the hottest dates in America’s yachting calendar.  This year the show celebrates its 60th anniversary with a whole host of new features including the exciting new Superyacht Village, bringing the total number of venues up to seven. Held over October 30th to November 3rd, this edition is expected to attract over 110,000 attendees, 1,200 exhibitors, and more than 1,500 yachts of all shapes and sizes. To help you craft the perfect show experience, we’ve created this in-depth preview of what to expect from FLIBS 2019 and the top yachts on show this year.

HIGHLIGHTS

New for this year is the Superyacht Village which will be hosted at the Pier Sixty-Seven Hotel & Marina’s “Pier South” property which boasts a brand-new marina and exhibition space on dry land. The venue will showcase the show’s larger yachts over 300ft as well as a whole range of superyacht essentials including helicopters, personal submersibles, and top luxury cars including Maserati. Top superyacht builders like Abeking & Rasmussen, Oceanco, and Heesen Yachts will be on hand to offer advice to those interested in learning more about the magnificent vessels on show.

Returning for a second year, the Sunset Soiree & Yacht Chef Competition promises to be a top evening with chefs from the show’s registered yachts competing to show off their skills in the heart of the Superyacht Village. Spectators will be able to watch the chefs compete and enjoy delicious cocktails and gourmet food tastings. At the end of the evening, the winning chef will be crowned FLIBS’ Best Yacht Chef 2019. Tickets cost $125 for this much-anticipated event to be held on November 1st from 7:30pm.

TOP YACHTS

Don’t miss the largest yacht due at FLIBS this year, the 312ft/95m Madsummer built by Lurssen with exterior design by  Harrison Eidsgaard and interior styling by Laura Sessa Romboli. This stunning yacht was delivered to her owner earlier in 2019 and is set to make her international debut at the Florida show. Highlights include a 12-metre swimming pool, sundeck jacuzzi, helipad, dedicated dive centre, and charming beach house chic aesthetic which extends throughout the whole vessel. Madsummer is available for charter from $1.4 million per week and can host up to 20 overnight guests.

Winning in the style stakes is the 262ft/80m Excellence launched by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2019. This radical yacht is certain to turn heads thanks to her futuristic exterior by Winch Design featuring an eye-catching reverse bow and majestic floor-to-ceiling glass which offers stunning views in the owners’ suite. Excellence is also available for charter from $1.1 million per week and can receive up to 14 overnight guests.

VIP EXPERIENCE

Also new for this year is the location for the Windward VIP Club experience which moves to a stunning in-water site at the heart of FLIBS on Bahia Mar’s main dock. This upscale retreat from the busyness of the show is presented by Delta Private Jets, the official private jet carrier for FLIBS, in partnership with Ulysee Nardin who are the show’s Official Timekeeper.

Highlights include a luxury open bar, open terraces for enjoying the shore and water views, gourmet food offerings, and a dedicated cigar lounge sponsored by Delta Private Yachts. There will be a dedicated concierge on hand to answer your every question and request and a complimentary water taxi direct to the Superyacht Village. Access to the VIP Club is available for $300 which includes one-day show entry and all of the benefits mentioned above.
