A fine way to dive into the ocean of information at the Monaco Yacht Show is always presented at the Fraser Yachts Press Conference. One of the world’s largest luxury yacht services providers, Fraser has its ear to the ground, translating yachting news in a clear, concise, and accurate review gathered from their business activities in 14 offices circling the globe.
Fraser’s overview this year confirmed continued improvement in the global brokerage market, boasting 40 units each during the April to June period. Of those sales, 15 were over 60m, and 5 over 70m. Those satisfying numbers are nibbling at the heels of sales during the entirety of 2013.
Additional news notes from the industry:
- Pricing fell an average of €7.6 million, compared to a €6.6 million drop in 2013, reflecting a more realistic set of expectations on all fronts.
- Sunseeker again proved the most popular choice, with 25 units, followed by Feadship at 15 and Benetti at 11.
- Fraser Yachts sits solidly atop the perch as the top brokerage house for the fifth year in a row, 37 percent above their closest competition, closing more in-house sales than any other brokerage.
- New construction in Q1 and Q2 found 60 units on board, compared to 38 in 2013.
- An increase in deliveries, up 26 percent, and launches, up 5 percent, supported an average length of 43.5m. Fraser is the acting shipyard for one of the largest yachts sold, the 88m Illusion, from Pride Mega Yachts China.
Fraser was pleased to announce that charter management is also up for the year showing heavy bookings already reserved for 2015, with the Caribbean continuing as a popular holiday preference. The picture is enhanced by 20 new yachts announcing entry into the market in the past nine months. Trends show bookings to remote destinations, like Alaska and the South Pacific, indicate increased customer interest, expanding to new geographic options.
Fraser’s crew network offices reported an increased number of positions, jumping 6 percent over 2013 in data from Ft. Lauderdale, Antibes, and Viareggio.
Fraser’s New Executive Chairman
Following the exemplary performance of Fabio Ermetto, Honorary President of V. Ships Roberto Giorgi was named Executive Chairman of Fraser Yachts by the Azimut Benetti Board of Directors. Mr. Ermetto’s appointment as Chief Commercial Officer for Benetti opened the door for Mr. Giorgi to continue a smooth working relationship with directors and staff. Giorgi has 30 years of experience working with V. Yachts in launch management, and in the leisure and ship management division.
