Since 2014, Rolex has furnished their updated Cellini collection of luxury timepieces with some incredibly elegant watches. Featuring traditional watchmaking techniques and refined proportions, the Rolex Cellini collection celebrates classic dress watches made for the modern man. Although it was a challenge to select only a few, here are three of our favorite Rolex Cellini watches right now.
Rolex Cellini Time
While a timepiece packed with different functions is certainly practical, sometimes an understated time-only watch is striking in its simplicity. Enter the automatic Rolex Cellini Time housing a beautifully designed dial within a 39 mm round case. The trio of center hands on the dial points to slim stick hour markers, which are in fact split by a circular minute track.
Framing the dial is a bezel that combines both smooth and fluted details for a touch of embellishment. For those who like a little sparkle, the Cellini Time is also available with a diamond-set bezel. Like all modern Cellini watches, the entire watch case of the Cellini Time is crafted in 18k gold, available in either white gold or Everose gold—Rolex patented rose gold alloy. Completing the look of the watch is an elegant leather strap fitted with a matching gold buckle.
Rolex Cellini Dual Time
The Cellini Dual Time dons the same 39 mm 18k gold case as the Cellini Time model I highlighted above, however, it boasts more functionality. As the name of the watch suggests, the Cellini Dual Time displays the time in two time zones: local time via the center hands and a second time zone on the 12-hour subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock. Plus, look closer at the subdial and you’ll notice a small window showing either a sun or a moon to indicate if it is day or night in that second time zone.
The white gold version of the Cellini Dual Time is available with a black or white dial, while the Everose gold version also offers a rich chocolate brown dial.
Rolex Cellini Moonphase
Last, but certainly not least, is the newest (and most complex) edition to join the collection: the Cellini Moonphase. Making its debut in 2017, the Rolex Cellini Moonphase is currently only offered with an 18k Everose gold case, a white lacquer dial, and brown leather strap.
On that dial sits the familiar faceted center hands and stick indexes split by the minute track. These are joined by a glorious moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock, as well as a date display on the periphery. The background of the moon phase display is a blue enameled disc topped with a dazzling meteorite circle representing the full moon, a silver ring representing the new moon, and a dash of shimmering stars. As the lunar cycle passes, the indicator placed at the top of the disc reads the exact phase of the moon, engineered to be astronomically accurate for 122 years. Simply out of this world.
A well-rounded wardrobe should include at least one dress watch to accompany formal wear. And if it is going to be just one, consider a tasteful Rolex Cellini timepiece.
