It’s time for Men’s Fashion Week again and that means it’s also time for some innovative and inspiring trends. MFW kicked off in the fashion capital of Paris, and some creators’ designs for Fall/Winter 2018 have already got our full attention. Of course, with Fall/Winter being the Caribbean season, it may be hard to replicate these looks, but we will sure be grabbing some inspiration from these fabulous ensembles later on this year, if not already! Here are just some of our favorite designers that you will have to keep your eye on this Fall/Winter 18!
Swedish brand Acne Studios are renowned for their rockier edge, but all whilst being minimalist. Their vibe is all about clean-cut shapes and lighter tones such as cool nudes and creams, as well as dipping their toe into some bright, vibrant colors. For their FW18 collection, they have stuck to their roots with minimalist features, yet have explored pastel shades such as light blue or even tones as bold as mustard. Though it is the FW collection, they have generally opted for lighter shades that will still be wearable on your travels. White denim jackets that scream rock and roll, teamed with beige linen pants for a smart/caj vibe that can be worn all year round. The collection is smart, yet so versatile with pieces that will be well worth the investment for the years to come.
Valentino’s Fall/Winter 18 collection is inspired by a man discovering the city nightlife, a man on a mission. There is super sharp tailoring, yet fun bright colors that will definitely turn heads, yet can be thrown over so many outfits. The Sport Luxe look is back for another season, as they have teamed timeless tailoring with retro-inspired sneakers for a man about the town vibe. The collection is perfect for someone looking for a laid-back style or for the man on the go! Lightweight cigarette pants will be perfect for exploring exotic destinations at night, and thin knits are perfect for those moments where the weather gets unpredictable!
Parisian brand The Kooples has been worn by icons such as David Bowie for their iconic rock and roll inspiration, all whilst incarnating the modern day man. The French trio create streetwear all whilst making you look (and feel) like a rock star! The brand has been inspired by European fashion from the very beginning, reuniting French Parisian Chic with the iconic London look. For their FW18 collection, they are sticking to what they know – red, black and white stripes, band tees, checkered coats and shirts, denim aviator jackets – all pieces that will see you through the whole year. Their future collection is dramatic, with all black ensembles with a hint of red for that striking touch of color – that’s definitely a tip we should all take into our own wardrobes. It comes as no surprise, that this collection is inspired by 1930s horror movies!
Parisian brands have always been immensely popular, but they have been taking the fashion world by storm of late. Alexandre Mattiussi is the mastermind behind Ami, laid-back sports-inspired clothing inspired by the young men of Paris. Like The Kooples, Mattiussi has used super sleek tailoring with bold knitwear, and has thrown in patent loafers, oversized jackets or the classic white sneaker to make it the casual sports brand we all know and love. Having been created in 2010, it is still a baby brand and will stand its ground this FW!
