A sibling brand of Rolex, Tudor has been producing top quality Swiss watches since 1926. Prized for impeccable engineering, distinct designs, and accessible price points, Tudor watches have caught the eye of plenty of watch enthusiasts in recent years. As an official retailer for Tudor watches, we’ve noticed a boom in the brand’s popularity here at Packouz Jewelers lately. Tudor’s 2018 watch releases have been particularly popular and if you haven’t seen what they are yet, discover them right there.
Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight
While the Black Bay collection made its debut in 2012, these watches are, in fact, inspired by vintage Tudor dive watches from the mid-20th Century. Each year, Tudor adds some fantastic new models to this flagship collection and earlier this year, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight joined the lineup.
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight sports a very wearable stainless steel 39mm case waterproof to 200 meters (660 feet). As a dive watch, the watch comes with all the essentials from the unidirectional rotating black bezel marked to 60 minutes to track immersion times to the large luminescent details on the dial for optimal legibility underwater. Something to note are the “Snowflake” style center hands on all modern Black Bay timepieces, which is directly influenced by Tudor Submariner watches from the late 1960s.
Available with three different strap options—steel bracelet, brown leather band, or black fabric strap—the Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight can go from sporty to classic to casual in an instant.
Tudor Black Bay 41
Although the Black Bay 41 model came out in 2017, the choice of a vibrant blue dial is new for this year. As its name suggests, it comes with a generous 41mm case in stainless steel. Thanks to the Tudor Black Bay 41’s clean lines, smooth bezel, and uncluttered dial, this is an excellent choice as an everyday men’s watch.
However, the blue dial is a solid option for those who want a fresher color than more typical black or silver dials. While I love the sleek look of the Black Bay 41 with a matching steel bracelet, it is also available with a brown leather strap or black fabric—two options that would great for fall.
Tudor Black Bay GMT
The most talked about novelty from Tudor this year is by far the new Black Bay GMT. Sitting on top of the 41mm steel case is a blue and burgundy rotating bezel that’s not only highly attractive but also practical in functionally.
The Tudor Black Bay GMT watch allows the wearer to track multiple time zones via the 24-hour marked bezel and the extra 24-hour hand on the dial. The center “Snowflake” hour and minute hands display the local time, the red GMT-hand points to a second time on the bezel, and if needed, the bezel can be turned to indicate a third time zone. This makes the Black Bay GMT a superb watch for busy travelers.
