BMW has been busy updating its lineup and has included the 2 Series for a refreshment. The compact sports car has been one of BMW’s key performers and has seen a wide acceptance with the public, however in order to stay on top the 2 Series has seen some improvements being carried out all around the car.
BMW did not want to mess with a winning formula so the changes to the 2018 2 Series are not drastic however do help improve the outlook of the car. 2017 already saw a new engine lineup along with new badges, 230i and M240i, both models received power upgrades.
The 2 Series has a new set of headlights as well as tail lights with the introduction of LED Lamps. Other exterior updates for the car include 17-inch double-spoke wheels and all-season run-flat tires for 230i and 18-inch M double-spoke wheels and performance tires for the M240i. Customers can now also order the cars in three new metallic colors, Mediterranean Blue, Seaside Blue, and Sunset Orange.
The interior of the car has also seen a refreshing aesthetic change. The use of new materials helps create a fresh vibe, a slightly redesigned dashboard now has a set longitudinal piece that surrounds the center HVAC vents and extends above the glovebox. Metal accents outline that piece and the side air vents, while black high-gloss plastic replaces the formerly matte black center-console surround.
Gloss black trim is standard for the 2-series, with aluminum and wood accents available as options. The cabin tech has been upgraded as well, with a redesigned instrument panel and BMW’s newest iDrive 6.0 interface for the infotainment system, which features a standard 6.6-inch center touchscreen (or an 8.8-inch optional one)
BMW plans to announce the pricing for the new 2 Series in July of this year.
