Creating masterpieces in any respective field is a daunting task. Understanding what makes something completely unique from anything else yet become something that is completely awe inspiring, the Maybach division at Mercedes does exactly that, every single time. They have showcased their creation at the Pebble Beach in California with what they are calling the car as the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet.

The car is a homage to the glorious “automotive haute couture” of hand-finished, exclusive cabriolets, it is basically a quick glimpse into what an ultra luxury two seater cabriolet will look like. It has basically reinvented what was previously defined as the perfect marriage of classic and contemporary styling.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet has been designed as an electric car to keep in tune with what future requirements for automobiles would need. But Mercedes understands that luxury can not be compromised for the sake of efficiency.

The  is long, crossing nearly 20 feet in length, however the elegance of the contouring lines create and effective of endless continuity from the long hood all the way to the rear facade of the car. The body of the car has the appearance of a sporty coupe with a stretched design hosting a sharp feature line. This side feature line defines the upper vehicle body, from the radiator grille across the entire length of the vehicle through to the rear.

The contrast between the dark blue paintwork against the chrome headlights as well as other chrome elements, brings definition to the front of the car. The grille has vertical struts owing to inspiration from a pin-striped suit. The radiator grille rests on two aerodynamically shaped supports on the outer right and left of the bumper.

The wheels on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 are large 24-inch alloys featuring a central locking nut, unsurprisingly this is painted in rose gold, the shade of choice being used on all  electric vehicle studies from Mercedes-Benz.

The rear of the car reflects the idea of a boat- tail and was envisioned to mimic a luxury yacht. The use of vertical tail lamps insinuates the large width of the car. Other exterior features also include a diffuser with an aluminum frame and the air outlets behind the wheel arches.

Considering that the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is being designed for the ultimate experience in bespoke luxury, Mercedes have ensured that the interior of the car is as breath-taking as the exterior. The interior has a sense of emotion as well as intelligence, to create something that showed that extreme thought and care was put into the development of the car. Mercedes have adopted an inside out approach for the cabin of the car.

The luxury lounge inspired interior uses hallmark materials of the Maybach line to create a customized experience in luxury. A quilted crystal white nappa leather finish with rose gold  accents is the main theme throughout the interior. In the case of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, this traditional seat upholstery boasts a futuristic interpretation: each individual button of the quilting depicts a delicate Mercedes star, backlit in blue.

One of the main feature of the interior is that of the floating, transparent center tunnel, which visualizes the drive system’s electrical energy flow for the passengers by means of blue fiber optics. The main driving functions as well as information relevant to the location (e.g. restaurant recommendations or information on points of interest) are shown on the windscreen via two head-up displays. The highest level of technology has been used in the car without making the driving pleasure absent altogether.

Power is of no shortage in the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, the electric motor will be capable of producing  750 horsepower and provides an overall range of 200 miles between charges. Mercedes have developed a quick-charge function as well, in just five minutes enough power can be charged to achieve an additional range of over 60 miles.

Mercedes has always treated the Maybach badge with utmost respect and through projects such as the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, has successfully paved the way for automotive design and innovation.
