There are cars, sports cars, luxury cars, and hyper cars. There are SUVs, luxury SUVs, even sporty SUVs. But they all LOOK like an SUV. Until now.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is an SUV that looks like a car. A car that stands on 24 inch turbine style wheels. And if you seem to feel that somehow it looks like a top of the line Mercedes-Benz, you’d be right. There’s a strong familial relationship to the S-Class, both in design ethos and technology.

However, on its own, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a technological showcase. Propulsion is courtesy of four electric motors which allows a variable all wheel drive system, with 750 bhp or 550kW being spread to all four corners. An 80 kWh battery can be charged in just five minutes to provide a range of 60 miles (100 kilometres). Top speed is limited to 155 mph.

Outside it’s a mix of strong, muscular, sheetmetal, a long wheelbase, and a recurring design theme of three. Three headlights either side of a striking vertical grille bar assembly on a bluff, upright, nose which is mirrored inside, back-ended by three tail lights either side of the Maybach name plate. The rear window exemplifies the two plus two passenger design, with a vertical line through the middle.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is aimed at the uber-rich and the interior reflects that. Intended to be chauffeur driven, passengers can be wafted along whilst enjoying the white leather and rose-gold exposed seat frames. The art deco air vents reflect the grille, and polished aluminum highlights bring extra light and class to the ambience.

The hands on approach that Maybach is famous for is also applied here. There’s LED lighting strips embedded in the wood grain finishes inside whilst the deep metallic red paint outside is applied in several coats by hand. The white Nappa leather is hand stitched and displayed in a different, eye catching, diamond motif. And in striving for more visual appeal, Maybach have gone minimalist on the dash, providing only what’s essential and necessary when it comes to equipment and displays.

There’s a special, extra luxury touch in the console that extends from the front to the rear seats. With class and elegance in mind Maybach have fitted an elevating and retracting tray complete with teapot and cups, housed in an ebony “Magic Wood” tray, heated for your convenience.

Pricing has not yet been quoted but as the adage goes: “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”
