Benetti has just launched the much-awaited 226 foot/69 metre “Spectre” at their yard in Livorno. The new superyacht was commissioned by Bond fans Jeanette and John Staluppi and is their third Benetti superyacht, following on “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Quantum of Solace”. Her smart exterior design is the work of Giorgio M. Cassetta, while the naval architecture was entrusted to the Dutch firm Mulder Design.
Giorgio M. Cassetta remarked that, “I’m very fond of Spectre. It’s the perfect example of a virtuous confluence between the ideas of the owner and the shipyard. John and Jeanette Staluppi, with their immense experience and energy, have spurred us on to imagine a yacht complete with everything that could be desired on a boat this size. Benetti accepted the challenge of building it to the highest standards and with a wealth of innovative technology. The splendid result is a satisfaction that my firm will treasure in the years to come”.
Built as a fully customised project with an aluminium superstructure and steel hull, Spectre boasts five decks full of gorgeous living spaces and well-considered amenities. Highlights include the helipad, swimming pool and two spacious owner’s cabins, one of which has it’s own private terrace, hot tub, and outdoor lounge area. In total, Spectre can receive up to 12 overnight guests with two VIP cabins on the main deck and two lower deck cabins in addition to the owner’s suites.
As well as her well-thought out interior and sleek exterior lines, Spectre has impressive performance capabilities thanks to two powerful MTU 12V 4000 M93L engines. Her top speed is just over 21 knots, while she can achieve an impressive range of 6500 nautical miles while cruising at 12 knots. By special request of her owners, Spectre has a maximum draft of 3.2 metres since her new owners plan to spend much of their time aboard cruising the Bahamas and other nearby islands.
