The prestigious Dutch shipyard Amels has just unveiled the brand-new 197 ft/60 metre Limited Editions superyacht which has been designed in collaboration with the Monaco-based naval architects Espen Øino. Her sleek, thoroughly modern exterior is the work of Espen Øino, while Amels has worked closely with Damen’s in-house research laboratory to create an innovative new hull design which will offer both exceptional fuel efficiency and the comfort of a full displacement configuration.
“The AMELS 60 is an exciting new take on the very best AMELS knowhow and craftsmanship that has shaped everything we have done for more than 100 years,” says Rose Damen, Managing Director of the Damen Shipyards’ Yachting division. “Just like the global fleet of Limited Editions yachts at sea today, the AMELS 60 will be a beacon of trusted reliability, quality and comfort for decades to come.”
Thanks to her hybrid propulsion system, the Amels 60 will be capable of cruising with her electric motors at up t0 7 knots, providing a smoother ride, reduced fuel consumption, and fewer emissions. Thrill seekers will be pleased to know that thanks to the hybrid system she can also hit a top speed of 15.5 knots and has a transatlantic range of 4500 nautical miles when cruising at 13 knots.
“The Amels 60 has a future-proof hybrid package that our clients can rely on. No full displacement superyacht of this size can match the Amels 60’s comfort, quality and efficiency in such a cost-effective design,” commented Rose Damen, Managing Director of the Damen Shipyards’ Yachting division. “We developed pragmatic technology that works invisibly in the background to deliver maximum efficiency, minimum impact on our environment, with the widest operating flexibility.”
Onboard her new owner will find six spacious guest suites with calming interior designs by London-based Studio Indigo which can receive up to 12 guests. The master suite will boast fold-out balconies on both sides of the yacht, providing the perfect vantage point to watch the world go by in complete privacy and comfort. Other key features include the large sundeck, swimming platform, and charming al fresco dining area situated on the upper deck.
The first Amels 60 yacht is currently under construction in the Netherlands and is expected to be delivered in the spring of 2022.
