The Arcadia Yachts entry vessel Sherpa is living up to its name by carrying some sales weight with four open deck versions already snapped up by new owners. Introduced at Boot Düsseldorf 2016 and making its on-water debut at the 2016 Cannes Yachting Festival, the 17.7m/58 ft. yacht earned early awards for Most Innovative Yacht 50-80 Feet, and Boat of the Year, driving interest in the versatile design. Three units were sold to European owners, and one to a U.S. owner.

The compact layout offers a choice for yachting enthusiasts that prefer faster, 18-20 knot cruising speeds, courtesy of a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines, while also offering large outdoor spaces that adapt to multiple uses. With plenty of posh lounging areas, the yacht also accommodates sociable owners with lots of entertainment space. Choosing layouts that favor day cruising, shadowing, day boating, fishing, or serving as a supply vessel, the Sherpa tailors the layout to owner’s use, with one, two, or three cabins in the deck plan.

The convertible sports flybridge is proving popular, allowing owners to tuck in during bad weather, or open up to the elements when conditions permit. Side windows raise to meet the hardtop, similar to an automobile, completely enclosing the upper deck area to control the interior temps. Storage space of 140 m2/247 cubic feet below the main deck leaves the massive flush main deck open to owner’s interpretation.

The high performance NPL planing hull was designed in accordance with testing at the National Physical Lab of England, determining its ideal length to width ratio and hull shape. Solar panel energy generation, efficient running costs for long range cruising, a lightweight hull design, and superior performance make Sherpa the ideal choice for active yacht owners wanting to carry an on board selection of kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, dive, or fishing equipment. It also serves, as its name implies, to haul gear and supplies, keeping luxurious spaces on board the mother yacht free for other uses.

With lots of Ecotech features, and the Arcadia brand ensuring all the quality and design a “made in Italy” yacht delivers, Sherpa is destined to become an indispensable vessel in the world of yachting. Also available in a salon deck, Sherpa looks and feels like a much larger yacht than she is, eager to please and happy to take on a wide variety of itineraries.
