Going Behind The Scenes of Dominator Yachts’ Groundbreaking M/Y Kalliente

The very first 28 metre/92 foot Ilumen yacht, M/Y Kalliente, was delivered to her owners last year by the Italian-based shipbuilder Dominator after years of anticipation. First announced back in 2014, this groundbreaking yacht has truly raised the bar for luxury yachts of this size thanks to her innovative design by Alberto Mancini and state-of-the-art onboard systems by Videoworks.

In total Kalliente boasts four guest cabins as well as a stunning owner’s suite on the main deck which offers plenty of privacy, a private terrace and a charming skylight window positioned so you can star gaze while laying in bed. The owner’s suite and the main salon also feature smart “sound masking” technology which allows you to play music with perfect acoustics even when the yacht is underway and subject to background noise.

Other highlights include the tender garage, swim platform and enormous sundeck which covers two-thirds of the boat’s length and boasts a large spa pool and plenty of lounge areas. Pretty impressive given Kalliente is still small enough to access some of the Mediterranean’s most charming little ports.

This big-yacht thinking extendsto the onboard systems as well. Here Dominator collaborated with Videoworks, an Italian company that specialises in building integrated entertainment, automation and IT systems for superyachts. Some of the impressive features they installed include clever iPad control for the air conditioning, lighting, and blinds as well as the Airplay and Apple TV entertainment.

Spread throughout the yacht there are invisible speakers which are calibrated to give the best possible sound quality in each room. As the night wears on, Kalliente can even be transformed into a party boat thanks to a plug-in DJ system located on the sun deck. This neat feature means any DJ can come aboard, get plugged in and get the party started throughout the whole yacht!
