Damen Shipyard has just announced that outfitting has begun on their latest Amels 200 yacht at their Vlissingen yard, despite the COVID-19 restrictions. The build represents the third iteration of Tim Heywood’s stunning 60-meter yacht design and is scheduled to be delivered in 2021 shortly after her sister ship, the second Amels 200 to be built to date.
“During these challenging times, we’ve taken wide-ranging measures at our yards to minimize the impact and spread of the virus,” commented Managing Director Rose Damen. “The health and wellbeing of those working at the yard is our top priority. So the arrival of this new hull shows a great determination and adaptability from everyone involved including our suppliers. It gives me a lot of confidence that we will get through this crisis in our industry together.”
Damen has chosen to work with Italian interior and yacht designer Laura Pomponi of Luxury Projects for the first time to create a thoroughly modern aesthetic, which harmoniously complements the yacht’s sleek exterior lines. The Amels 200 boasts a carefully-curated neutral color palette and the use of soft textures and natural materials like wood to evoke a calming yet homely atmosphere. Large windows throughout the main deck ensure plenty of natural light illuminates the living spaces and provides stunning views, which directly connect guests with the sea and their surroundings.
Top features on the brand-new Amels 200 will include a vast owner’s suite along with comfortable guest cabins, which can receive up to 12 overnight guests. She also has a handy elevator connecting all four decks which can provide direct access from her spacious sun deck to the air-conditioned gym on the lower deck. Power is to be provided by hybrid electrical technology and she will also come equipped with the latest emissions reduction capabilities.
