With 300 days of sunshine a year, 620 miles of coastline and a distinctively southern French flair, a Corsica charter itinerary is the perfect option to simply get away from everyday life. This unique island is liberally dotted with secluded rocky coves, timeless fishing villages and chic towns which offer excellent shopping and dining opportunities.
If you’re planning to see the island by boat, ample outdoors space is a must so you can make the most of the warm evenings and lazy afternoons on board. One of our favorite charter options for exploring the Corsican coast is the 196.85 foot/60 meter Elysian from the famed German shipyard Abeking and Rasmussen. Boasting a sleek exterior design courtesy of Donald Starkey and elegant interiors styled by Bannenberg & Rowell, this grand dame is the ideal choice for young families or those looking to indulge in the stress-free Mediterranean lifestyle.
Sun worshippers will immediately fall head over heels in love with Elysian’s vast sundeck complete with an oversized jacuzzi and bar. It’s the ideal spot to work on your flawless tan while you watch the rugged Corsican coast slip by and an attentive crew member whips up your favourite summer cocktail. Or you might prefer to spend time in the gym before heading down to the sea level beach club for a restorative swim in the Mediterranean.
Those looking for a more active charter experience will enjoy playing with Elysian’s vast selection of water toys which include paddleboards, kayaks, diving equipment and a small sailing boat. She also has an elegant custom-built wooden Yachtwerft Meyer tender which is ideal for shore excursions to glamorous locations like St. Florent, Corsica’s answer to St. Tropez.
When it comes to dining, guests are spoilt for choice with the option of the alfresco dining table on Elysian’s upper deck and a formal dining room in her main salon which can both seat up to 12 guests. Head back up to the sun deck after dinner for a nightcap under the stars or simply to catch one of those unforgettable Corsican sunsets play out across the skies.
Guest accommodation onboard Elysian includes a vast 90 -square metre master suite on the main deck as well as four further guest suites on the lower deck. One neat feature of Elysian’s interior layout is that these four cabins can easily be converted into two huge full-beam VIP suites and there is also another guest cabin on the bridge deck with two Pullman berths which is ideal for those cruising with young children or personal staff. In total Elysian can receive up to 12 overnight guests and she also has a crew of 16 to ensure that every guest need is attended to throughout the charter experience.
Elysian is available to charter this summer in Corsica and other Mediterranean hotspots from €350,000 ($414,000) per week plus expenses.
