An association of shipbuilders with roots reaching back in time to 1849, Feadship is about to again deliver a project that underscores their uniquity, the quality that combines innovation, quality, craftsmanship, and heritage to equal more than the sum of its parts in every Feadship build. As anticipation heightens for the early 2017 delivery of hull number 1006, now known as Project Vertigo, details are still closely guarded, but the owner’s representative, Peter Insull, offers just a tasty sampling looking forward to the end result.

Initial images display a smooth sweep of white steel, sculpted with the pleasing curves from the hand of Redman Whiteley Dixon Design. The white superstructure is lushly layered with uninterrupted glazing in an elegant, balanced profile. Prepared to welcome 18 guests in 7 double cabins and 2 twins, Vertigo will maintain a happy crew of 34, with lower deck cabins, crew mess, lounge, hospital, doctor, and pilot cabins, and even a crew gym on the tank deck below. Interiors by Chahan Interior Design are clean and sophisticated, adding to the spacious feel of the yacht.

A large, lower deck beach club is nicely lit from above as the reinforced glass of the pool floor serves as a ceiling to the beach club bar. Retractable beach club decks to port and starboard invite the sea air and sunlight to caress guests lounging about in posh sofas and chairs. A massage room, steam room, day head, shower, and dive store wrap the forward end of the club, with a stair to port accessing the main. The tender garage with shell doors to both port and starboard just forward of the beach club accessory rooms houses three boats, including custom limo and open tenders. A dive compressor room, with space for waverunners, kayaks, and additional storage lockers are also in the plans.

Centered aft on the main deck, an oversize 8.8m x 3.7m pool with glass side walls and a forward water curtain invites guests for a refreshing swim, while a lounge area forward and bar with seating for six beckons to port. Continuing forward, glass doors open to the main saloon, with formal dining for as many as 12. Further forward is the central main hall, surrounded by a day head, pantry, elevator, and crew elevator, with galley to port and cinema to starboard. Two double cabins and two VIP cabins with large en suite baths continue forward to the helicopter hangar, mooring deck, and heli fuel locker.

The bridge deck features a large, open air al fresco dining space fully aft, with bar, large screen TV, and several seating areas. Forward of the deck is a saloon with C-shaped sofa, chairs, and large screen TV wall. Fully forward is the heli deck, just forward of the wheelhouse, ship’s office, captain’s cabin, and captain’s office. Above the bridge deck, the owner’s deck is a luxurious enclave featuring large dual baths with dressing rooms, pantry, lounge in the aft part of the cabin, and a spacious al fresco dining and open air lounge fully aft. The owner’s stateroom looks forward over the bow, with lounge areas and a central bed island.

The sun deck features a Jacuzzi forward, with large sun pads and deck areas with shower, rimmed with glass bulwarks that maintain a full view of the horizon. Enclosed in the midships cabin, a guest gym, guest elevator, day head, pantry, and day lockers provide everything needed to enjoy hours atop this stunning yacht, taking in the gorgeous view. Fully aft is an expansive deck with sun pads, dining, bar, and large lounge area.

Next year at the Feadship Heritage Fleet Annual Rendezvous, Vertigo would be most welcome to share her advanced features with other Feadship owners, comparing notes and speculating on just when some of the Feadship concepts revealed in the Monaco Yacht Show augmented reality display might up in new builds. An exciting period for Feadship as well as yacht owners, innovations in autonomous living, drones, motion compensated pools, and detachable beach houses definitely hold the promise of uniquity.
