Columbus Yachts’ new 40 m hybrid Divine is scheduled to be displayed at the Monaco Yacht Show, September 28 to October 1, 2016, along Quai des Etats-Unis. The second 40m sport yacht from Columbus, classified as “Y” for hybrid propulsion, is powered by two diesel motors and two electric motors, running at 20 kts on the former and 8kts on the latter, using generators that also produce energy when the main engines are in use.
The strong, automobile-inspired lines by naval architect and exterior designer Hydrotec Srl are complemented by sophisticated, clean interiors by Hot Lab, assisted by the Palumbo Design Team and the owner. A vertical bow increases interior volumes, with astonishing headroom of 2.3 m. Eucalyptus and walnut woods are FSC certified, and the leather used is treated with a non-toxic water painting process, giving the yacht a reduced environmental footprint and at least five awards, including the World Super Yacht Award for 2016 semi displacement and 3 Deck motor yacht between 30-40.9m.
Glass cutouts along the bulwarks do dual duty. Allowing an uninterrupted view, they also function as fold down balconies to both port and starboard, creating an open onboard terrace with an exceptional view. Divine accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms, boasting a main deck owner’s suite and study.
