At the beginning of June Dutch yachtbuilder DAMEN celebrated the launch of the very first 77 SeaXplorer. The 252 foot / 77 metre explorer yacht has been constructed at DAMEN’s Galati yard on the Danube where the launch was celebrated with her new owner and his family.
The yacht is based on DAMEN’s SeaXplorer design and incorporates a plethora of unique custom features to fit the lifestyle of her new owner. One key feature is her capacity to carry two helicopters of up to 4000 kg, allowing her new owner the freedom to roam wherever he might fancy. In total La Datcha can cruise in complete autonomy for 40 days and she can receive up to 12 overnight guests onboard in addition to her 25-strong crew.
“The Earth is so big and our life is so short, so we have to explore as much as we can,” commented La Datcha’s new owner. “And the SeaXplorer project is just perfect. I fell in love with the shape, the design. Don’t forget that this is the one yacht with two helicopters, so you can really go further into the mainland. You can see the bears. You can see the animals. You can heliski. Any kind of activities, fishing and so on. With two helicopters you have absolute freedom to explore any remote territory as deep as you want.”
La Datcha will be moved to DAMEN’s outfitting yard in the Netherlands in the summer where she’ll be prepared for delivery to her new owner in September 2020. She will then make her first official debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.
