Damen’s 55m Support Vessel “Power Play” to Debut at Monaco Yacht Show

Designed with adventurous souls in mind, Damen‘s brand-new 180 foot/55 meter support vessel “Power Play” is set to make her debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show which will be held over the 26th to 29th of September. Power Play is the most recent of Damen’s YS 5009 designs build to hit the water, and she’s certain to make a splash amongst potential owners looking for a smart support vessel as a complement to their superyacht or a tough expedition boat for independent cruising.

Rose Damen, Commercial Director of the Dutch shipyard, commented that, “We’re looking forward to showing our clients the next evolution of the YS 5009 at the Monaco Yacht Show. The adventure element with accommodation and guest areas reflects the changing market requirements. This is the complete yachting experience with diving, submersibles, fishing, exploration, underwater discovery and fast toys.”

From the looks of her, there’s no doubting Power Play’s suitability as a top-of-the-range support vessel. On deck you’ll find a sturdy 12-tonne crane and A-frame fittings which will make submersible launches and retrieval of heavy equipment a breeze. For those who like their toys, there’s a fabulous dedicated Adventure Centre at the aft which offers 538 sq foot/50 sq metres of space ideal for dive preparation or equipment storage. There’s also a helipad on her enormous deck and storage capacity for tenders and bulky equipment. She can reach speeds of up to 20 knots which makes her perfectly suited to function as a dive ship connected to a larger vessel.

After a hard day spent exploring the four corners of the earth, Power Play delivers comfort and style below decks in spades. Her guest accommodation consists of three well-appointed cabins which are stunningly decorated in a calming neutral color palette. In total, she can accommodate up to six overnight guests, which means she is ideally positioned to function as additional accommodation alongside a larger yacht. For those who like to celebrate in a big way, she can also be used to host large parties of up to 350 guests thanks to her vast deck space which can easily be transformed into a gorgeous venue.

Other star features onboard include the attractive sun deck and a large main lounge area which is beautifully furnished with comfy sofas and a large wooden dining table. Power Play also has the capacity for up to seven dedicated crew members, plus space for an additional four staff which could include guides, dive experts, or security personnel.
