Boutique Italian superyacht builder Tankoa Yachts recently announced the successful completion of sea trials with its much anticipated all-aluminum 50m M/Y Vertige, also known as S501. Vertige’s performance was planned to be measured in calm conditions but during sea trials the conditions included waves larger than 1 meter and choppy seas caused by wind gusting up to 30 knots. The contract specified a top speed of 16 knots at half load and despite the inclement sea trial conditions Vertige reached a top speed of 16.5 knots at 60% load.
Edoardo Ratto, General Manager of Tankoa Yachts said the following of M/Y Vertige’s performance, “The first sea trials, which lasted about 8 hours, were simply incredible. Vertige reached a top speed of 16.5 knots at 60% load (about 33,000 liters of fuel and more than 20,000 liters of water). S501 has a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, which really makes a difference when going for Atlantic crossings. There were no vibration at all and the decibel readings were inferior to contracted levels – in the owner’s suite and VIP cabin, levels were below 50 decibels.”
During M/Y Vertige’s build process the Tankoa Yachts management team worked closely with Francesco Paszkowski to ensure the the superyacht achieved a specific set of goals including a perfectly balanced and timeless design that is unlike anything currently on the market, a 499 gross ton finished vessel that offers amenities usually found on larger yachts and a layout that allows guests and crew to move comfortably throughout the yacht without overlapping. Additionally, Vertige’s Francesco Paszkowski designed interior includes 6 staterooms with a full-beam master on the main deck. Margherita Casprini collaborated with Paszkowski to create a “modern but warm” atmosphere on-board.
Additional luxury amenities found on Vertige include a theater, 7 meter tender garage and gymnasium. The aft deck includes an oversized sun-pad and a 3 meter fold-out terrace. The all-aluminum superyacht has a full-displacement hull which reduces fuel consumption.
