Known as the Yachting Capital of the World, it is no surprise that Fort Lauderdale hosts one of the most widely anticipated events in the yachting calendar each fall. The 59th edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will be held over October 31st through to November 4th and is expected to bring together over 1500 yachts of all shapes and sizes in the world’s largest in-water show. With so much to see and do and a total of seven waterside locations, it can be challenging to decide where to go and what to see. To help you craft the perfect show experience, we’ve created a dedicated Fort Lauderdale destination guide, our pick of the 10 Hottest Yachts at FLIBS 2018, and this in-depth preview of what to expect from this year’s FLIBS.

FLIBS2018 will be the ideal chance to check out all the latest tech gadgets, tackle and gear, and gorgeous new yachts that have just come onto the market in time for the upcoming season. With over 1200 exhibitors from 52 countries, there is truly something for everyone regardless of whether you’re a first time cruiser or a hardened thrill seeker with years of experience onboard.

Amongst the events on offer will be the Yacht Chef Competition where chefs from the show’s registered yachts will compete to show off their skills by creating an elegant beach barbeque. Spectators will be able to watch the chefs compete and enjoy delicious cocktails and gourmet food tastings. At the end of the evening, the winning chef will be crowned Wine Enthusiasts Best Yacht Chef 2018.

There’s also plenty to keep little ones busy thanks to Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics which are held on the Saturday and Sunday, and a dedicated Aquazone where you and the kids will be able to test out a whole range of water toys. The 40,000 gallon fresh water pool will host SUP and kayak demos, aerial aquabatics on flyboards, hovercraft shows, underwater drone tests and much more.

In addition to the exciting watercraft and superyachts on show, you won’t want to miss the Windward VIP Club experience. This sublime retreat from the hustle and bustle of the show can be found in the Hall of Fame Marina and is presented by Delta Private Jets and Ulysee Nardin who are the Official Timekeeper for FLIBS.

Set in a comfortable air-conditioned lounge, the club provides the perfect backdrop for business meetings, networking, or simply enjoying a moment of welcome rest. Inside you will find a premium open bar, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and a dedicated concierge service to assist you with your visit to FLIBS. There will also be a comprehensive programme of events and activities in the club which range from luxury wine tastings hosted by Wine Enthusiast and rosé and oyster pairings to cigar roller sessions.

Access to the VIP Club is available for $300 which includes one-day show entry and complimentary use of the water taxi service.

This year’s show will boast more than 100 food vendors offering every imaginable cuisine ready to be enjoyed. As well as ample street food options there will be plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options to make sure there is something for everyone.

Proof of Pudding will be taking care of the catering offer this year and will focus on delicious dishes made with sustainable and locally-sourced produce. In keeping with the nautical theme, they will offer food stations inspired by ports around the world like Cabo San Lucas for Mexican dishes, the French Riviera, Portofino for Italian cuisine and sunny Mediterranean food from the Greek Islands. Also on offer will be a range of specially designed cocktails, local beers and delicious wines.
