Heesen Launches World First: Hybrid Fast Displacement M/Y Home

Renown Dutch builder Heesen has officially announced the launch of its much anticipated Project Nova, christened by its owner as M/Y Home during the launch ceremony at Heesen’s shipyard in Oss. With multiple forms of electric and mechanical propulsion, M/Y Home is the world’s first Fast Displacement hybrid superyacht. In addition to the incredible efficiency created by the hybrid propulsion Home is also able to cruise in silence. Equipped with twin water-cooled 127kW DC electric shaft motors Home is capable of cruising at 9 knots running on just its generators. Home represents a new breed of cleaner, quieter, and more fuel-efficient yachts superyachts.

Coming in at just under 500 gross tons Home boasts a radical and powerful exterior design by Omega Architects. Thanks to features such as a vertical bow, wide central staircase to access the large aft platform and extensive use of glass Home stands notably apart from other yachts in its class. The shallow 2.15m draft allows for exploration of destinations such as the Bahamas. Cristiano Gatto Design was appointed to create an interior that matches the owner’s lifestyle.

Home will remain in Oss for systems commissioning after which she will be moved to Rotterdam for extensive sea trials before the official delivery in June.
