With so many beautiful yachts on the water at this show, it is difficult to choose a favorite. Each one has its own personality, displaying interior details, water amenities, performance, and naval architecture to its own advantage. Selecting a best-in-show yacht wouldn’t be representative of the options. Steve’s stars, if you will, awards the top luxury charter yacht in each of three categories: Contemporary, Traditional, and Sport Yacht.
My top contemporary selection is the Christensen Odessa. Sweeping naval architecture, spacious interior, and clean lines make Odessa a head-turning vision on the water. Beautifully detailed interior spaces, embracing 6 cabins for 12 guests, make her perfect for groups or large families. The Armani Casa furnishings make her chic, sumptuous, and comfortable. At 48.77 m/160 ft, she is both majestic and sleek, providing a relaxing, inviting, and elegant guest experience. Read Feature Article
In the traditional category, my choice is the Delta Marine Katya. Handsome, dark wood cabinetry and paneling complement the traditional furnishings, dressed in elegant, formal textiles. Light carpeting, inlaid marble flooring, and a most proper dining arrangement support a superior lifestyle, curated by fine, traditional styling. Her cabin arrangement offers 1 master, 2 double, 2 twin, and 2 pullman cabins, easily accommodating 10-12 guests. A 5,000 nautical mile range makes her very versatile with respect to destination. My sport yacht selection would be the stellar Mangusta Moonraker. Smaller, more dramatic, yet spacious and comfortable, Moonraker is perfect for big and tall athletes like myself. My 6’10” frame easily navigated the cabins, finding lots of luxurious room to roam. A gym, media room, and abundance of water toys, amid clean, simple, yet luxurious interiors, offer a superior option for groups of 8 guests in 4 cabins. Hammam/steam shower, beautiful furnishings and hardware, 65” media room TV, and a list of thoughtful appointments that make a private luxury yacht charter aboard Moonraker an unforgettable experience, earn this 50m design my top marks. It doesn’t hurt that her cruising speed is 33 kts, with top speeds around 42 kts, and her shallow draft of 1.7 m easily navigates shallower waters around the Caribbean Islands. Read Feature Article
