Oceano‘s 295 feet/90 metre DAR was the deserving winner of the 2018 World Yacht Trophy for Yacht of the Year trophy at an award ceremony held in the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. The brand-new yacht was delivered to her new owner in the summer of this year after a secretive build period during which Oceanco released very limited information about their latest project. Since her launch and delivery, DAR has captivated the attention of the yachting community thanks to her futuristic design and her status as one of the world’s 200 largest superyachts.
DAR’s forward-looking exterior is the work of Luiz De Basto who was on stage in Cannes to celebrate her win along with Oceanco representatives and Captain Klaudio Marcelic. Clearly visible in Dar’s sleek exterior is De Basto’s passion for classic cars which inform the curvaceous lines and sporty aesthetic of her steel hull and aluminium superstructure. In order to retain balance and elegance, De Basto and Oceanco have kept the superstructure to a modest size to avoid a top-heavy look and have finished it in reflective glass.
Glass also dominates the interiors which have been designed by Nuvolari Lenard to allow guests to deeply connect with the sea around them. Large glass windows inside create panoramic floor-to-ceiling views out on to the ocean and the surrounding scenery, as well as giving a light and airy feel to her interior spaces. On board there are a total of six guest suites which can receive up to 12 overnight guests, including a spacious owner’s suite which boasts its own private outside dining area on the upper deck.
