The second unit from Tankoa Yachts, a boutique Italian shipyard, is set to launch in early March, 2017, scheduled for an April delivery. The 50-meter yacht with six guest cabins, gym, cinema, and 7-meter tender garage features amenities normally found on yachts exceeding the S501’s sub-499 GT parameters. Constructed entirely in aluminum light alloy 5083, Tankoa Vertige is an extraordinary Italian design boasting style, quality, and a beautiful blend of form with function.
The owner’s brief requested exceptional balance in a fluid design displaying timeless qualities, all wrapped in a distinctive package. Also important to the owner’s enjoyment of the yacht, uncompromised circulation flow for guests without interfering with service crew was mandatory. In daily communication with yacht owners, surveyors, and captains, Tankoa epitomizes the benefits of working with a small shipyard. As CEO Euro Contenti states, Tankoa yachts are built ‘with’ owners, as opposed to ‘for’ them.
The concept, exterior, and interior design was completed by Francesco Paszkowski, with assistance from Margherita Casprini on interiors. Full height windows, hydraulic balconies on the owner’s suite and aft deck, two VIP and two guest cabins below deck, and a neutral palette with natural hues and textures throughout, the design embraces guests with a modern yet contemporary atmosphere.
Working to maintain permanent visual contact with the sea, Vertige has a range of 5,000 nm at 12 knots, kicking it up to 16 knots when requested. The owner’s representative, Albert McIlroy, noted his high level of satisfaction with the build process at Tankoa, confirming “With the S501, the shipyard has greatly improved their time schedule management and operation processes and truly have a Teutonic approach which leaves me speechless.” Continuing his praise, McIlroy added “It is also probably the first time I have seen the build of yacht this size that fully respects the production without compromising the incredible flexibility Tankoa is known for.”
