For 25 years, Ted McCumber has been navigating the seven seas, building beautiful ships, and guiding the reigns for no less than four stunning Feadship projects. After his spellbinding success with Savannah, the latest project hailed as 2016’s World Superyacht of the Year – Feadship made the move and appointed Ted McCumber as the new commercial director of their American office.

This position has been well earnt by a man who has dedicated his life to making Feadship dreams a reality, both on the page and in the water. Even beyond the startling success of Savannah, Ted has also been responsible for Attessa II, Attessa III and Katrion.

Marketing and brand director Farouk Nefzi noted that; “Ted will play a vital role in the contacts between the commercial team in the Netherlands and the many Feadship owners and prospects in the Americas.” Feadship has long held a sterling reputation for being masters of their craft, the Dutch shipyard is renowned across the globe for their distinguished custom superyacht designs. Demand from the US has always been an integral part of Feadships key market, and now buyers in the Central and South Americas are also starting to make a splash. Farouk Nefzi went on to say that;

“Ted’s immersive and broad technical experience with Feadship makes him uniquely suited to talk to current and potential clients. For this position, we were looking not for a salesman but for a person of stature who can represent our brand from a position of authority. Ted has a genuine understanding of the needs and aspirations of superyacht owners and we are delighted to have him on board the Feadship team.”

Ted will be moving from the gold and green mountains of cool California to the blue and white shores of Fort Lauderdale to embrace the position full on. As a captain being close to the water’s edge comes naturally to Ted, as does a passion for the Feadship brand;

“Representing the Feadship brand comes naturally to me: after all, I’ve been doing it for decades each time people came on board my boats. The many years of sailing and operating Feadships gives me a unique insight into how they work. Feadship is still seen as the undisputed brand of choice in the US and I personally fully agree with a statement by one of my former bosses: ‘If you want to build a yacht right you have to go to Feadship’. I am looking forward to helping owners and captains create their own bespoke Feadships in the years to come.”
